Chicago Bucketlist
Moving in less than 2 months.
Possibly 1 month, if our landlord won’t let us extend our lease by 3 weeks. It shouldn’t be hard because the building is by no means fully occupied/in demand. Probably just doesn’t want to do paperwork, I don’t know and I don’t get it.
We are waiting on a lease in Philly. A place at a good location with parking. A lot of things are happening quickly, and it’s pretty stressful.
So here is the year’s worth of Chicago we want to squeeze into the next 6 weeks, all while packing/cleaning/getting ready to move:
In general, just enjoy Chicago more. Go back to our favorite neighborhoods and walk around and be among the people, spend more time near the lakefront, drink margs at Big Star even though I don’t like it there, etc.
Go to Aroy a lot! We went there this weekend and I forgot how much I missed them. Only got takeout a couple of times this year.
When Noah and I first went there, we went every other day for 10 days. My dream is to go for the perfect week and a half - 7 days of Aroy, every other day.
Host a dinner party - once a year in St. Louis, we prepared a huge meal and it really broke my heart that we couldn’t do it this year. I have been redirecting my need to cook for others in different ways, but it would be nice to do one big hurrah.
My idea: a pantry clearage dinner. It might be difficult to weave together a cohesive meal with the disjointed ingredients, but the challenge will be half the fun!
Venture out to places we couldn’t order delivery/takeout from:
an omakase sushi
that ramen place in Hoffman Estates
the pozole place near Midway
other places too!
Stage at pastry mom’s kitchen/bake with my buddy at his coffee shop
Look at Navy Pier fireworks from our skydeck
go to a museum
to be continued
