Losing inspiration to cook this week
I’ve been spending my days watching Sky Castle instead of baking, because Jisoo was just cast in a drama by the same producer and director as Sky Castle, and I heard there’s high hopes for it because Sky Castle is very good. And so far, it’s pretty good. Definitely a slow burn, with lots of set ups for something big to go down later.

And the new Runterra expansion is finally here. But it’s very overwhelming, and the decks are very slow. but it’s still fun and very exciting!
That’s what I’ve been killing time with these days. Also, the delivery options are too plentiful. Sometimes it’s easier just to cop out and get delivery. We had ramen two days in a row last week from different places. Not amazing, but definitely a refreshing change of pace from St. Louis.
I got a haircut on Tuesday, thus starting my personal 2-week countdown. It was the riskiest thing I’ve done in months, aside from living with a doctor who goes to the hospital, but I just couldn’t stand it anymore. My stylist mentioned that her kid’s going to in-person school next week, so I’m really glad I caught her before all that extra exposure.
In order to get said haircut, we left Rosie with my in-laws the day before when we visited them for lunch, so I could pick her up after. It was nice to get the afternoon to ourselves, too. Assi wasn’t too busy on a Monday afternoon, so we were able to actually browse a grocery store together for the first time in months. At night, we walked 20+ minutes in the humid 90F heat to Three Dots and a Dash, and pretended like we were on vacation with tiki drinks in an alleyway patio lined with fake grass. Fun!
The things I do make have been pretty typical, nothing worth documenting. I’m not very inspired to try anything right now… maybe I’ll have more ideas next week. Our visit to Al Bawadi is sparking my interest in Middle Eastern food again, so maybe I’ll finally try some of the recipes in my new books.
